Infection in a Nursery can spread rapidly, amongst children and staff.

Parents are required to keep their child at home if they have a communicable infection and to inform the Nursery Manager so she can alert other parents.

Any child obviously unwell will not be admitted into nursery until they are well enough to do so. If your child becomes unwell throughout the day you will be contacted and if necessary asked to collect your child.

The following procedures must be followed:

Gastric Upsets Children must be excluded from nursery for 48hrs after the last symptom of sickness or diarrhoea

Hand Foot and Mouth Children cannot return until treatment has been given and the spots have cleared

Conjunctivitis Children are able to attend nursery as long as the eyes are being treated

Head Lice Children must be treated before they can return

Impetigo Exclusion is necessary until all scabs have cleared

Chicken Pox Minimum period of exclusion 5 days from onset of spots. All spots must be scabbed over before returning

All infectious diseases must be reported to the Manager who will inform other parents.
